Amplifying Caribbean Voices
WeCapture™ documents and celebrates the evolving sound of steelpan, connecting community, heritage, and innovation with a global audience.
About WeCapture

At the microphone, tradition meets innovation — carried forward through sound, voice, and the collective memory of the steelpan community.
Preserving the Sound and Spirit of the Steelpan
Welcome to WeCapture™ – we’re preservationists with deep cultural connections and a passion for documenting this era of the evolving sound of the steelpan. We are drawing from 16 years of audio recordings of Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural heritage across over 120 Steelpan yards each Carnival season.
This platform is driven by community engagement and a future-forward vision that pays homage to tradition and the rituals of sound creation that inspired the birth of the steelpan. We celebrate authentic voices, embodying a new phase of cultural evolution and sharing its amplified spirit globally.
The WeCapture Story
How It All Began: A Mission to Record What Matters
WeCapture was born out of a simple yet urgent mission: to create a resource that captured Caribbean culture at the highest sound quality possible. At a time when much was being lost or left undocumented, we stepped in- to listen, to archive, and to honour the voices of our people.
WeCapture isn’t just preserving sound and music—it’s about creating an active archive. We bring recordings to life through online streaming, digital releases, creative collaborations, and a growing research database. This is a culture you can feel, share, and build on. Whether you’re an artist, student, or simply curious, the archive is here for you—to inspire, connect, and spark the future.
