Meet the Collective Force Behind Our Sonic Innovations
Harnessing collective energy to share Caribbean culture worldwide.
WeCapture is powered by a diverse and dedicated team of creatives, engineers, producers, and cultural workers, each bringing a unique perspective to the preservation and activation of Caribbean sound and story.
Together, we build the Active Archive and craft immersive cultural experiences that reach beyond borders.

Yoichi Watanabe
Founding Producer & Creative Director
From running a pioneering hip-hop studio in Brooklyn to dedicating his work to the music of Trinidad and Tobago, Japanese-born Yoichi Watanabe has built his career at the crossroads of music, culture, and technology. His journey includes music journalism, DJing at community parties in the Philippines, pioneering the first headset microphone, and producing chart-topping Japanese pop music. Since the 1990s, he has recorded hundreds of steelpan performances, helping shape WeCapture’s core mission—“Active Archive”—and driving its production vision into the future.

Katsunari Imai
Executive Producer & Production Director
Kats Imai – shapes sound like a storyteller weaves words. Before moving to Trinidad & Tobago in 2009, his work as a producer and remixer reached the Billboard Dance Club Play chart. Witnessing Brooklyn’s Panorama drew him into the world of pan and he has now become an integral part of transforming T&T Panorama’s sound technology. As a core member of WeCapture, a UNESCO-supported project, Kats is preserving the Caribbean’s evolving culture in its most vibrant forms.
